LEGAL DIMENSION OF TRADITIONAL AND COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE PRACTICES IN TURKEY

Context and Aim: The World Health Organization defines traditional complementary medicine (TCM) practices as “the sum total of the knowledge, skills, based on theories, beliefs, experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in maintenance health well prevention, diagnosis, improvement treatment physical mental illness”. This study aims analyse main legal regulations TCM Turkey.
 Methodology: is a systematic review analysis desk research data literature. were analysed by reviewing literature screening particular Ministry Health, CAMbrella which had been conducted European Union WHO Global Report On Traditional And Complementary Medicine 2019. was carried out “Ulakbim Turkish Academic Network Information Center”, “Google Scholar“. made between September 2021 October 2021, 5 keywords used: “traditional medicine”, “complementary "integrative medicine", "alternative medicine" "functional medicine".
 Findings: Turkey are Supplementary Article 13 Law No. 1219 Practice Medical Arts, 9/c Annex 11 Services Basic 3359, Presidential Decree 1. Practices Regulation (“Regulation”), dated 2014, stipulates 15 areas, including acupuncture, apitherapy, phytotherapy, hypnosis, leech, homeopathy, chiropractic, cupping, larva, mesotherapy, prolotherapy, osteopathy, ozone, reflexology music therapy. Although regulation basically specified qualifications practitioners, minimum requirements practice centres, cases can be imply issues such obligation informed consent regarding practices, medical malpractice not fully regulated. In this respect, it required make comprehensive detailed these issues.
 Conclusion: fill an important gap terms human areas that modern cannot deal with. It necessary regulations, especially regulate consent; define care standards for malpractices strengthen evidence base just like conventional practices.
